How to write a journal: Tips
for baby boomers
Have you ever considered the
possibility of writing a journal? Perhaps you have, but you don't know how to
go about doing this or where to start.
Consider these thoughts about
journaling. You never know what the benefits of journaling will be for you, as they may not be the same, as for others. Unless you keep a journal, that may remain a mystery.
The best place to start a
journal, is at the beginning. Your journal will contain a record of your
thoughts, feelings and daily happenings. Today is the best day to begin your
journal, because that is where you are at, right now.
As a baby boomer, perhaps you
have been thinking about writing a journal, for many years, but have never had
the time. Now you are already entering into semi-retirement or retirement and
you have the time to do something that you have always wanted to do. Why not bring
your journal into reality now?
Here are some journaling tips
for baby boomers.
To start, you need at least two
things, paper and a pen.
Write down your name, address
and telephone number, just in case your journal is misplaced.
Give your journal a title.
A journal can be started on a
single sheet of notepaper, typing paper or looseleaf paper. Make certain that
you have a binder for the pages or you may find that you have notes that are
scattered all over.
You can place your pages in
chronological order or reverse chronological order.
A relatively inexpensive
notebook can serve as a journal and has the advantage of not falling apart.
If you prefer something elegant
and professional looking, go into a bookstore and splurge. Purchase something
that looks inviting to write in and to read.
Number you pages, carefully.
You may choose to date every
entry.
Record the time of each entry,
if you feel that is appropriate.
Keep your journal in a safe
place, but where that you can access it, at any time. That way, if there is
something that occurs to you, you can make a note about it.
Write whatever is foremost in
your mind. Write simply and use good grammar, as you may not be able to make
corrections. Add poetry or artwork to make it more interesting and attractive.
There are other ways to begin a
journal.
Have you considered journaling,
as a Word document or starting a blog? It is not that difficult to do and it is
fun.
Baby boomer, good luck on your
new journaling project and enjoy journaling. You never know where this might
lead.
